Putting the 'T' First: Honoring the Role of the Transgender Community in the LGBT Rights Movement Part Two 3:00pm - 5:00pm
For this LGBT History Month, October, 2018, a coalition of community agencies will focus on expanding awareness of the transgender community. The Village Chicago, Howard Brown Health, Lakeview Presbyterian Church, and the Gerber/Hart Library and Archives will present a two-part signature program, "Putting the 'T' First: Honoring the Role of the Transgender Community in the LGBT Rights Movement. "

This program is intended to be a comprehensive introduction to the issues of sexual orientation and gender identity. Part 1 will cover history and politics, language and identity, safety and oppression, and finally medical support services. Part 2 will focus on the lived experience of members of the trans community, behavioral health support services, and support services for identity issues from childhood and up. Additional program support will come from the Center on Halsted and the Ann and Robert Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. The program is admission free and all are welcome!
