From a press release
2015-01-20

Thousand Waves Martial Arts and Self-Defense Center kicks off a year of events marking the 30th anniversary of its founding with a conversation with Nancy Lanoue and Sarah Ludden about the feminist roots of their own martial arts and self-defense practices, and how that blossomed into the founding and evolution of Thousand Waves. The event is February 4, from 7:45 to 9:30 at 1220 W Belmont, and is free and open to the public.

Thousand Waves Martial Arts & Self-Defense Center is a not-for-profit organization that fosters fitness, healing, empowerment and peacemaking by promoting healthy minds and bodies through violence prevention, self-defense and traditional martial arts programs for adults and children of all ages. Founded originally to serve women and children, the center today welcomes everyone's participation regardless of racial or ethnic background, religion, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, or fitness ability.
