Five Worth Finding

2014-06-10

—Buyer & Cellar ( Article Link Here ): You only have until June 15 to catch Michael Urie ( best known as Mark on TV's Ugly Betty ) portray Alex Moore, a gay struggling actor in L.A. who takes a job working in the mall in Barbra Streisand's Malibu basement. Urie's performance is flat-out hilarious and, at times, very moving.

—Love with Food ( Website Link Here ): This charitable company operates pretty simply: You pay to receive natural or organic snacks; if you order the sample boxes, you're also donating a meal to feed a hungry child in the United States. Moreover, the food is pretty darn tasty: Items range from GoGo Squeez to sweet-potato chips to key-lime cookies to Flavrz drink mix.

—Think Simple Foods ( on Facebook ): This Near North Side coffee shop, located at 770 N. LaSalle St., has pastries ranging from macaroons to scones ( including ham-and-cheese and heavenly blueberry-lemon versions ). Also, there are dozens of varieties of teas and, of course, coffee.

—Vicious ( Article Link Here ): The deliciously bitchy lines come at a fast and furious pace in this British ITV comedy that stars out actors Derek Jacobi and Ian McKellen as a longtime gay couple. ( Example: "Do you think I could pass for 50?" "I'm not sure you could pass for alive." ) The show premieres on PBS June 29.

—Playlist: The Very Best of Adam Lambert: Although one could question if Lambert has had enough hits for such a compilation, there are several gems in the 14-track CD, including his previously unreleased American Idol version of "Mad World." There are also hits such as "Whataya Want From Me" and "Trespassing."
