On Sept. 16, now-former Illinois state Sen. Terry Link pled guilty to a federal count of filing a false tax return, The Chicago Tribune reported.
Link's plea agreement with prosecutors stated he listed his 2016 income as $264,450, when it was actually at least $358,000.
The Tribune reported last year that Link agreed to wear a wire for the FBI in a bribery investigation of his colleague, then-state Rep. Luis Arroyo, in exchange for what Link hopes will be leniency at sentencing.
Under preliminary sentencing guidelines, Link would face up to 16 months in prison.
Before Link, a Democrat, resigned last week, he had represented the state Senate's 30th District since 1997.
