The Chicago Sinfonietta concert "Sight + Sound: A Sonic Art Exhibition" will take place Saturday, March 7, at 8 p.m. at Wentz Concert Hall, 171 E. Chicago Ave., Naperville; and Monday, March 9, at 7:30 p.m. at Chicago's Symphony Center, 220 S. Michigan Ave.
"Sight + Sound" will feature three works: Finding Rothko, Syzygy and Pictures at an Exhibition. Syzygy is a world-premiere commission from composer Courtney Bryan created for "fearless violinist" Jennifer Koh that celebrates artists Frida Kahlo, Maya Lin, and Alma Thomas and their cultural contributions to society. Emmy-winning and Grammy-nominated composer Adam Schoenberg is behind Finding Rothko, while Pictures at an Exhibition is a piano suite inspired by the works of artist Viktor Hartmann.
