Richard Knight Jr. is stepping down from his role as co-programming director of the annual event Reeling: The Chicago LGBTQ+ International Film Festival.
In a note sent to Windy City Times, Knight said, "Reeling: The Chicago LGBTQ+ International Film Festival is the second oldest of its kind in the world. And I have had the enormous privilege ( and task! ) of programming the features for Reeling six times. Now the time has come for me to move on to other creative challenges.
"I remain a devoted fan of this Chicago cultural institution and shall continue to support it with all my heart. My deep affection and admiration for Brenda Webb, its founder and director, continues unabated and I am grateful for the incalculable lessons I have learned from her. A huge thank you to Brenda and to all the filmmakers and supporters of Reeling. It has been an honor.
Knight was also a film writer/critic for Windy City Times, having served in that capacity 2004-17.
