Reports: Teen to testify against Aurora church employee
2019-08-20

A minor alleging that an Aurora area church employee solicited nude photos from them via Snap Chat and text messages will be allowed to testify against the defendant, according to reports.

The Kane County Chronicle reported that a judge ruled Aug. 16 that the youth will be allowed to testify against Sugar Grove resident Paxton Singer, who was was youth director at Harvest Bible Chapel of Aurora. Singer is pleading not guilty to misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and sexual exploitation of a child. Singer allegedly was also asking inappropriate, sexually charged questions to the youth.

Another youth is making the same accusation but is currently not scheduled to testify.

Singer was first taken into custody last October. Notification and investigations of the incidents raised numerous questions; church officials say they notified Department of Children and Family Services of the allegations in Jan. 2018, at the time of Singer's dismissal. But the official investigation did not seem to begin until several months later.

A status hearing is set for Aug. 29.
