—On Wed., Aug. 21, Travelle at The Langham Chef Jeff Vucko will collaborate with Granor Farm Chef ( and Ruffage author ) Abra Berens for a one-night-only dinner. Starting at 6:30 p.m., guests meet at Granor Farm in Three Oaks, Michigan ( about a 90-minute trip from Chicago ); upon arrival, guests will enjoy a tour of the farm. Vucko and Berens will create a seven-course, family-style menu. This event will benefit Plant Chicago, with a portion of proceeds supporting their market and education programing. —Chicago-based Wow Bao, which specializes in steamed bao, is giving away free lunch on Thursday, Aug. 22, to celebrate National Bao Day. Available at all Chicago Wow Bao locations, lunchgoers can get free lunch ( up to $10 ) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bao varieties include Teriyaki Chicken, BBQ Berkshire Pork, Hunan Spicy Steak, Spicy Kung Pao Chicken, Orange Chicken, Thai Curry Chicken, Whole Wheat Vegetable, Coconut Custard and Chocolate as well as the Spicy Mongolian meatless bao.

—On Sunday, Aug. 25, 2-6 p.m., at Morgan Manufacturing, 401 N. Morgan St., Winestyr will host Winestyr Fest—an inaugural tasting event devoted to celebrating wineries across the United States. —Uncommon Ground, 1401 W. —The Giant Penny Whistle—a new neighborhood tavern and live music venue—is opening soon in Pilsen at 1854 S. Blue Island Ave. It's in a 5,000-square-foot space that had been home since the 1970s to Tito's Hacienda, a taqueria and bar. General Manager Brad Hoffman developed the reliable menu of beers and cocktails, inspired by the history of Pilsen. The Giant Penny Whistle's name is a reference to scientific experiments from the 1960s that explored the effects of low-frequency sound on the human body.

—Asadito—the West Loop's new addition with counter service and more than 2,000 variations of margaritas—recently debuted authentic new dishes as well as an outdoor patio. New options include the Bistec de Asadito Taco ( flank steak, caramelized onion, guasacaca; $4 ), Kale and Hominy Salad ( arugula, pepitas, queso fresco, pozole verde vin; $8 ) and more. The dog-friendly patio is complete with 84 total seats.

—The Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile, 540 N. Michigan Ave., will host an end-of-summer BBQ atop its rooftop garden—typically closed to the public—on Aug. 29, 5-8 p.m., to benefit The Children's Miracle Network. The evening will feature bites using fresh rooftop garden produce by hotel Executive Chef Frank Sanchez; select beer, wine and cocktails; and a country-music DJ. Dishes include BBQ carrots with spiced creama and pistachio gremolata; smoked and pickled shrimp with corn; crispy shortrib with pickled cucumbers, Portugal peppers, XO sauce and savory caramel; and cornbread with smoked cheddar and rooftop honey. —Philz Coffee will open its second Chicagoland location in Hyde Park, at 1425 E. 53rd St., on Sunday, Sept. 1. Philz Coffee Hyde Park will have 1,910 square feet of space with seating for up to 36 indoors and an outdoor patio. There will be menu favorites—including the Tesora, Jacob's Wonderbar and the Iced Mint Mojito—that can all be customized to match guest's preferred tastes.

—MAD Social, 1140 W. Madison St., will kick off Labor Day weekend with a Friday brunch on Aug. 30. Division St., will open 8 p.m.-2 a.m. on Labor Day ( Monday, Sept. 2 ) and offer specials like $6 glasses of wine, $5 Espolon Tequila shots, $5 Stoli Lime drinks, and Tecate with a Jimador tequila shot for $6. Guests can enjoy their drinks and the final days of summer on Easy Bar's dog-friendly sidewalk patio with seating for 15 to 20 guests.

—LondonHouse Chicago's LH Rooftop: 85 E. Upper Wacker Dr., floors 22-23, will host a Star Party for its second year on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 7-10 p.m. Attendees can star-, moon- and planet-gaze through two telescopes while the astronomy team provides insights into the sky's spectacles.
