7th Annual North Shore Pride Fest June 1

HIGHWOOD, IL ( JUNE 1, 2019 ) — To kick off Pride Month, Celebrate Highwood is 'showing its pride on the north side' at its 7th Annual North Shore Pride Fest on Saturday, June 1st throughout Downtown Highwood. Benefiting the LGBTQ North Shore School District 113 Spectrum Club, the full day of activities will feature a Pride Family Picnic, Family Friendly Drag Show, Best Dressed Contest, and 'Taste the Rainbow' ( adult only ) Pub Crawl with food/drink specials and live music at all stops.

"The festival has an overwhelming amount of community support and has grown so much over the past seven years. This year's Pride Fest will be bigger and better than ever," says DR Smith, Celebrate Highwood Board Member and North Shore Pride Fest Event Coordinator. "As we kick off pride month and support our LGBTQ community on the North Shore, we invite everyone throughout Chicagoland to come celebrate diversity and show their pride on the north side."

Conveniently located within walking distance of the Highwood Metra Train station, North Shore Pride Fest welcomes people of all ages from around the Chicagoland area for a full day of fun, celebrating diversity.

Events kick off Saturday, June 1st with a Pride Family Picnic in Everts Park ( 130 Highwood Avenue ) from noon-2 p.m. Families are invited to bring their picnic baskets, blankets and chairs, and enjoy the great outdoors. There will be music, a bounce house, an ice cream truck, and family crafts and games lead by the North Shore School District 113 Spectrum Club.

At 5 p.m. the party moves indoors for the Family Friendly Drag Show at 210 Live Restaurant & Lounge, which will also be the starting point of the Taste the Rainbow ( adult only ) Pub Crawl. With a $20 registration fee, participants will receive a rainbow lei, a fun frosted light-up souvenir cup that enables food and drink specials and entrance into raffles for great giveaways at each stop. Attendees are encouraged to dress in their best/most colorful attire and show their diversity! There will be prizes for the most unique/creative costume for male and female.

Each stop on the Taste the Rainbow ( adult only ) Pub Crawl will serve a different mixed drink inspired by a different color of the rainbow:

5-6 p.m. — Family Friendly Drag Show at 210 Live Restaurant & Lounge, 210 Green Bay

Road — RED drink special featuring "Red Sangria Slay All Day," a Red Sexy Salsa Appetizer and Fresh Red Cherry Tomato Margherita Flatbread, Raffle Drawing 5:55 p.m.

6-7 p.m.— Santi's Gardens, 324 Green Bay Road — Orange drink special featuring "Santi's

Simple Screw" ( a twist on the traditional screwdriver ) — Music: Bill Uhler, Raffle Drawing 6:55 p.m.

7-8 p.m. — The Humble Pub, 336 Green Bay Road —— Yellow drink special featuring Jack Daniel's Whiskey and lemonade — Music: Adam Yarger and Lenny Martelli Duo, Raffle Drawing 7:55 p.m.

8-9 p.m. - The Toadstool Pub & Marco's Northside Grill, 327 & 329 Waukegan Avenue —

Green drink special featuring "The Hoppy Toad" a combination of vodka, Midori, coconut rum, pineapple juice and sprite — Music: The Box Band, Raffle Drawing 8:55 p.m.

9-10 p.m. - 28 Mile Vodka Company, 454 Sheridan Rd. — Blue drink special featuring "The

Blue Mile" made with 28 Mile Vodka — Music: Where's Maggie?, Raffle Drawing 9:55 p.m.

10 p.m. to close - The Wooden Nickel, 444 Lake View Avenue — Purple drink special

featuring Van Gogh acai-blueberry vodka and lemonade and 'End of the Rainbow' celebration with DJ Kate Versage, Raffle Drawing 10:55 p.m.
