The Annoyance Theatre will present a special benefit for Equality Illinois featuring a one-time viewing of a recorded performance of Faith Soloway's musical satire "Jesus Has Two Mommies."

First premiered in Boston in 2001, "Jesus Has Two Mommies" played to sold-out performances, which were heralded by hometown newspapers as "hilarious, high-spirited, and uproarious."

Soloway, an Annoyance Theatre alum whose credits include "The Real Live Brady Bunch," "The Miss Vagina Pageant," and "Coed Prison Sluts" from the theatre's repertoire, is currently a writer on television's "Transparent," which was created by her sister Jill Soloway, also an Annoyance alum. Faith Soloway will be in attendance at the Annoyance event, performing a curtain-raiser with Annoyance ensemble member and improviser-extraordinaire Susan Messing. The event will be hosted by Chicago drag-queen favorite Debbie Fox.

"Jesus Has Two Mommies" concerns Faith's difficulty committing to gay marriage and motherhood, while a funky, female God tries to guide her by telling her the tale of Jesus, Mary and Josephine.

Written and directed by Faith Soloway and produced by Ian Brownell, with music director Eric Schmider, the satire stars Jane Beyer, Seth Bodie, Ry Cavanaugh, Christine Cannavo, Catie Curtis, Jerald Harscher, Jim Infantino , Jennifer Kimball, Merle Perkins, Faith Soloway, Sean Staples, and Meghan Toohey.

The fundraiser's beneficiary, Equality Illinois, aims to build a better Illinois by advancing equal treatment and social justice through education, advocacy, and protection of the rights of the LGBTQ community.

"Jesus Has Two Mommies" plays one afternoon only, Sunday, January 14, 2018, 3:30 PM at The Annoyance Theatre, 851 W. Belmont, Chicago, IL. 60657. Tickets, which are $8 for students, and $10 for general audience, can be purchased through the Annoyance website, Article Link Here . For more information, call the box office: 773-697-9693.
