Dining news: New hotel spot, Sable chef, Lawry's/SideDoor event

—Marriott Marquis Chicago, 2121 S. Prairie Ave., has announced the opening of its new restaurant concept, Woven & Bound. The hotel and restaurant's culinary vision is helmed by Executive Chef Joshua Murray, who most recently served as executive chef at Phoenix Renaissance Downtown. Dishes include house-smoked pork belly made with a Koval bourbon date glaze, candied pistachios and pickled watermelon rind; and the Vice District Burger, made with grass-fed beef, avocado, pork pate, fried egg, tomato, Wisconsin cheddar and black garlic aioli on brioche. —Sable Kitchen & Bar, 505 N. State St., has announced the appointment of new Executive Chef Amber Lancaster. Among past accomplishments are working as a private chef in Paris and holding positions at the Michelin-rated French dining destination Restaurant Guy Savoy and the historic luxury spot Hotel de Crillon; she has also worked at Chicago's Alinea and Sur La Table.

—Lawry's The Prime Rib and sister restaurant SideDoor, 100 E. Ontario St., announced J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines as the October partner in SideDoors' monthly dinner series. On Wed., Oct. 25, at 7 p.m., guests can enjoy pours of four various J. Lohr wines, guided by Steve Lohr, CEO of the family-owned vineyard, alongside four courses prepared by Executive Chef Steve Goellner. Dinner courses include a scallop crudo with orange, pistachio, mint, and chili thread; pear salad with beets, micro basil, goat cheese, and candied pecans; short rib with root vegetables, EVOO mashed potatoes, and demiglace; ending with a chocolate hazelnut brittle with blackberries. —The Delta, 1745 W. North Ave., is now offering Sunday brunch at 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Chef/partner Adam Wendt is serving Mississippi red-hot tamales, tartine ( smoked catfish, boursin cheese, gremolata, deviled egg, dill ), smoked pork belly ( sour creamed grits, roasted ciipollini onions, runny egg ), fried green tomato sandwich ( pimiento cheese, bacon, fried egg, remoulade, with breakfast potatoes ), and Wang & Waffle ( Korean-style chicken wings, buttermilk waffle, BBQ Delta syrup ). —Lobo Rey has opened at 1307 S. Wabash Ave. The kitchen, helmed by Executive Chef Daniel Espinoza, offers an approach to Mexican classics. Items include flautas de pollo con papa with crispy chicken and potato, salsa verde, red pickled cabbage slaw, and crema; and pescado a la Veracruzana—a seasonally rotating fish preparation served with red quinoa, plantain croquettes, mole Amarillo, shaved fennel and pickled grape salad. —At Chez Moi, 2100 N. Halsted St., Chef Dominque Tougne will celebrate Sweetest Day ( Oct. 21 ) with a a special prix fixe menu for two. —As the second year of Honey Butter Fried Chicken's, 3361 N. Elston Ave., Clucker Collaboration series comes to a close, chefs/owners Christine Cikowski and Josh Kulp join forces with UrbanBelly and BellyQ Chef Bill Kim to offer the Urbanbelly Mi sandwich ( $11 ). The sandwich will be offered at Honey Butter Fried Chicken through Oct. 22.

—Argo Tea is embracing the fall season by bringing back its signature pumpkin chai—a sweet and spicy, caffeine-free blend made from all-natural ingredients. On Thursday, Oct. 26, all Argo Tea cafes in Chicago will be giving out FREE pumpkin chai at 2-6 p.m. ( FYI, Argo also offers other seasonal favorites, like Caribou Coffee Pumpkin Lattes and pumpkin-flavored muffins. )

—Oak Brook's Michael Jordan's Restaurant, 1225 W. 22nd St., now has a happy-hour menu in the bar area. Culinary offerings include Little Mike Burgers, mini-steak sandwiches, crispy pork dumplings and tuna-tartare crisps, among other items. Happy hour is 3-6 p.m. Mondays-Fridays.

—Frontier, 1072 N. Milwaukee Ave., will celebrate Halloween early this year with a Wild West Halloween Party on Saturday, Oct. 28, beginning at 9 p.m. For $65 per person, guests can enjoy Frontier's signature whole smoked pig buffet, appetizers, dessert buffet and bonfire s'mores, along with domestic and craft beers, party punches, cocktails and party favors. —SPiN Chicago, 344 N. State St., will hold its "Boos & Booze" Halloween Party on Saturday, Oct. 28, 8 p.m.-2 a.m. There will be an event of libations, specialty menu bites, dancing, live DJs spinning throughout the evening and ping-pong. —On Saturday, Oct. 28, 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Shaw's Crab House, 21 E. Hubbard St., is throwing a costume brunch filled with all your savory and sweet favorites, plus Halloween treats. Additionally, any guests in costume will receive a gift certificate for $25 that can be used towards that person's next Shaw's visit. Brunch is $59 for adults, $10 for kids ages 7-12, and free for children 6 and younger; reservations are recommended.

—Pop's Italian Beef & Sausage will open its newest location at 157 W. North Ave. on Saturday, Oct. 28. Pop's will be giving away one of seven signature sandwich meals to the first 100 visitors; additionally, one guest will win free beef sandwiches for a year ( one a day for 365 days ) by entering his/her/their business card or contact information into a drawing.

—The Signature Room, 875 N. Michigan Ave., invites friends and family to welcome the 2017 holiday season with its annual Brunch with Santa event on Saturday, Nov. 25, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The brunch buffet includes chilled seafood, charcuterie, made-to-order omelets, and more; entrees such as banana nut bread French toast, fried chicken & waffles, brunch burger, and fusilli pasta; along with a seasonal hot chocolate station. While the adults sip on hot chocolate, coffee, or a mimosa, children can enjoy various holiday-themed activities, including cookie decorating, face-painting, holiday wish-list creation and a balloon artist. —J Fairmont Chicago—at Millennium Park, 200 N.Columbus Dr.—will host its fourth annual "Cookies and Cheer," a luxury cookie exchange on Thursday-Friday, Nov. 30-Dec. 1, 5:30-7:30 p.m. "Cookies and Cheer" gives guests the opportunity to mix and mingle with Fairmont's culinary staff while enjoying wine tastings and sampling seasonal cookies. —South Water Kitchen, 225 N. Wabash Ave., will close after dinner service Dec. 3 to begin construction on a new concept slated to open in spring 2018.
