Brnabic is now the first womanas well as the first openly gay politicianto lead the European country. This is seen as a major step for Serbia, which is considered a pretty conservative nation.
She will take over for Vucic, who recently took over as president.
Vucic's nomination happened a day after Leo Varadkar was officially elected as the prime minister of Ireland, becoming the first openly gay man to hold this position.
