CHICAGO ( January 8, 2016 ) — Out at CHM, the Chicago History Museum's annual three event series exploring LGBTQ issues, kicks off its thirteenth year of programming with "Are We Still Fabulous?" an exploration of marriage equality and the integration of the LGBTQ community into mainstream society on Friday, January 22 at the Chicago History Museum.

"Since 2004, the Museum has engaged in bringing LGBTQ history to its visitors through the Out at CHM program series," said Gary T. Johnson Chicago History Museum President. "We are pleased to welcome another year of insightful discussions and panels led by leaders and scholars within the Chicago LGBTQ community."

Discover the storied history of Chicago's LGBTQ communities with the Museum's popular and provocative series. New this year guests are invited to subscribe and save. Pick two events for $35, ( $25 Museum members and students ) or all three for $50 ( $40 Museum members and students ).

Now that marriage equality is the law of the land and childrearing is more common in the LGBTQ community, are we becoming too integrated into mainstream society? How did we define ourselves and have these identities changed today? Jennifer Brier, director of Gender and Women's Studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago, moderates a diverse panel including Ricardo Gamboa, Yasmin Nair, Francesca Royster and Joseph Varisco as they ask—and answer— these essential questions in a series of witty and fast-paced presentations, followed by a debate.

"Are We Still Fabulous?" is the first program in the Out at CHM 2016 series followed by "Standing Up: From Punchline to Spotlight" on Thursday, March 10 and "Looking? The History of Hooking Up" on Thursday, May 19.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with a drinks and appetizers reception followed by the official program at 6:30 p.m. Admission for non-subscribers is $20, and $15 for Museum members and students.
