Chicago, IL—Mary Morten and Jim Bennett launch their new Chicago-based production company, Focused Media, LLC, by celebrating the second season of their most popular project, The Gay Agenda, with a party at Sidetrack, 3349 N. Halsted St., on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 from 6pm — 8pm.

The Gay Agenda is an online talk show in which a panel of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender ( LGBT ) activists critique mainstream notions of gay identity and the LGBT movement, and discuss what it means to be a part of the queer community.

In Season One of the popular webseries, hosts Morten, Bennett, Shannon Downey and Tony Alvarado-Rivera explored defining transgender experiences, privilege in the queer community and Orange Is The New Black. Season One featured guests like Owen DMC, founding member of the Translating Identity Conference, and Fawzia Mirza, former lawyer and star of KAM Kardashian, a popular YoutTube webseries. The hosts are occasionally joined by special correspondent Angelica Ross, Executive Director and founder of TransTech in Chicago.

Morten is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and the President of Morten Group, a consulting firm specializing in social change through skills development, public policy and advocacy. Morten's first full-length feature, Woke Up Black, is currently on tour all over the country and has been broadcast on PBS in Chicago twice. Bennett works to advance the gay agenda as the Midwest Regional Director of Lambda Legal, helping to build sustained support for equal marriage rights in America's heartland. He is a graduate of Second City's conservatory program, writes and performs comedy, and is a 2013 Moth Storytelling Grandslam winner.

Focused Media aims to produce content that provides a forum for underrepresented voices, challenging preconceived notions by mining the positive aspects of their stories.

Focused Media's launch party featuring the hosts of The Gay Agenda will take place on Wednesday October 1st from 6-8pm at Sidetrack, 3349 N. Halsted St., Chicago and will include a special performance by Gia Gunn, contestant on Season Six of RuPaul's Drag Race. Raffle, food, and cash bar will be provided.
