One of the area's favorite annual events—AIDS Foundation of Chicago's World of Chocolate—will be held Nov. 30 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, 151 E. Wacker, 5:30-9 p.m.
While commemorating World AIDS Day, which actually takes place Dec. 1, guests will dine on chocolate delights from many of Chicago's finest restaurants, chocolatiers and caterers while raising much-needed funds for the fight against AIDS. Local celebrities will be on hand to appoint top honors to the night's best chocolate creations.
Attendees can kick off the holiday season with this enchanting evening of food, entertainment and shopping. This year's annual Holiday Bazaar will feature glass-beaded gifts and ornaments made by women in South Africa through the MonkeyBiz Bead Project. MonkeyBiz is a non-profit organization that provides employment and empowerment to South African women.
Just before the festivities begin, AFC will host a pre-event presentation in which several Chicago organizations doing critical HIV/AIDS work overseas will receive grants. There will also be a photography exhibit called 'Through Their Eyes' that is presented by Picturing Hope, an organization offering the gift of self-expression to children affected by HIV/AIDS who live in developing countries. ( The entire exhibit will be on display at Columbia College beginning Nov. 29. Also, see www.picturinghope.com . )
Tickets are $60-$125. Call 312-922-2322 or visit www.aidschicago.org .
