World Congress of Families whitewashes in media, Speakers show true positions
From a press release

Salt Lake City - The World Congress of Families ( WCF ) has consistently denied being an anti-LGBTQ organization, but at their conference this week WCF partner organizations and official speakers reveal their true positions.

As PRA executive director Tarso Luis Ramos recently explained in the documentary "Hunted: Gay and Afraid," the WCF acts as a networking organization, connecting U.S.-based Religious Right organizations with foreign political, religious, and cultural leaders, opening the door for anti-LGBTQ and anti-reproductive freedom laws.

While the WCF has adamantly maintained that their conference does not spread anti-LGBTQ views or messages, their partners and speakers apparently didn't get the message:

Alexey Komov:

WCF's Russian representative spoke on a panel where he said that laws protecting LGBTQ people will lead to "transhumanism" and "cyborgs."

Rafael Cruz:

The father of presidential candidate Ted Cruz, Rev. Cruz said during a panel Wednesday morning that he believes LGBTQ people are connected to pedophilia, and that non-discrimination laws "open the doors" for LGBTQ people into schools. PRA captured video of Cruz after the panel, where he told attendees that not only is there a connection between LGBTQ people and pedophilia, but that he believes the LGBTQ community is pushing to legalize child-molesting.

Theresa Okafor:

WCF's African Regional Director has supported harsh anti-LGBTQ laws in Nigeria that not only provides for long jail sentences for gay sex, but also bans gay people from meeting in groups. At the WCF event this week, Okafor was captured on camera saying that while LGBTQ have always existed in Nigeria and Uganda, it was the U.S. Christian Right representatives who "taught" Africans that homosexuality is evil. She also identified WCF and partner organization Family Watch International as being instrumental in passing the anti-LGBTQ laws in Nigeria and Uganda.

Family Research Council's Peter Sprigg

FRC's Sprigg not only spoke at WCF this week, but also at a side-event in Utah called "Understanding Homosexuality: the politically incorrect truth." At that event, Sprigg was filmed saying that not only are people not born gay, but that LGBTQ people are diseased and mentally ill. He also condemned anti-discrimination laws that protect LGBTQ from employment discrimination, saying that "discrimination isn't necessarily evil."

Last week, Political Research Associates, the Southern Poverty Law Center, and Ipasreleased decades worth of research on the WCF and their partner organizations.

The research includes full profiles of WCF's partners, including Family Watch International, the National Organization for Marriage, Alliance Defending Freedom, and others who are involved in the creation and promotion of both anti-LGBTQ and anti-reproductive freedom laws in places like Russia, Slovakia, Ukraine, Nigeria, Uganda, Australia, and Latin America.
