Windy City Times Theater Series - 65% Sold Out

The Most Unique Subscription Theatre series in Chicago – 8 different companies and shows.

August 8, 2008 - Windy City Times announces the newspaper's sixth annual theater subscription series with two Chicago premieres and three Tony Award-winning shows.

A yearly sold-out event, the WCT Theater Series gives subscribers a chance to enjoy diverse shows with terrific seats at Chicago's top theaters, all while enjoying the social aspect of going to the theater. 'This year we are excited to have the hilarious and highly anticipated XANADU as part of our series,' said Windy City staffer and theater series founder Amy Matheny. 'Plus a One Night Only event at Steppenwolf with Sandra Bernhard accompanied by a party. And provocative fare up in Glencoe with THE MAIDS then escorting them to hear one of Chicago's premiere leading ladies, Hollis Resnik in GREY GARDENS – all for about $30 a ticket.'

The 2008-2009 series consists of eight shows with a special live performance by Sandra Bernhard at the Steppenwolf Theatre. The 2008-2009 Windy City Times Theatre series includes:

XANADU, Chicago premiere! Book: Douglas Carter Beane, Music/Lyrics: Jeff Lynne & John Farrar. Broadway in Chicago – Friday, Jan. 16 at the Drury Lane Water Tower. A roller-skating, disco-dancing, glow-stick waving, smash hit musical.

A SANDRA BERNHARD HALLOWEEN A Brand New Show! Steppenwolf Theatre Monday, Oct. 27, 2008 at 9:30 p.m. A provocative comedienne backed by her The Rebellious Jezebels.

GREY GARDENS, Tony Award Winner for Best Musical 2007 By Doug Wright. Northlight Theatre Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. 'An experience no passionate theatergoer should miss!' – The New York Times.

THE MAIDS, by Jean Genet, Translated by Martin Crimp. Writers Theatre December 2007 through April 2008 Voucher. Jealousy, resentment, sexual tension and murder converge in this classic French thriller about two maids in service to a young socialite. When the mistress is away, the maids will play.

THE HISTORY BOYS, Tony Award Winner for Best Play 2006 By Alan Bennett. Timeline Theatre Friday, April 24 at 8 p.m. or Thursday, April 30 at 7:30 p.m. ( must select date ) . A rambunctious and clever group of young men pursue a higher learning, games, sexual identity and a place at University. OLD TIMES, by Harold Pinter. Remy Bumppo Theatre at Victory Gardens Greenhouse, Saturday, May 16, 2009, Matinee. Perception and reality collide when a married couple is visited by the wife's roommate from 20 years ago.

LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, Six Time Tony Award Winner Book by Harvey Fierstein, Music/Lyrics: Jerry Herman. Bohemian Theatre Ensemble @ Theatre Building Chicago, Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. Gay parents try to impress their ultra-conservative in-law using a chorus of beautiful drag performers in this hilarious gay classic!
