CHICAGO—Revolution Brewing, Chicago's largest independent brewer, is
rolling out the dance floor on Wednesday, Dec. 12 for its inaugural We Are Family
fundraiser — an event to support the LGBTQ community and raise donations for Chicago House
and Social Service Agency.
"Calendar-wise and weather-wise, December in Chicago is about as far from Pride weekend as
you can get. We wanted to organize an event that showed our commitment to supporting this
community year-round," John Carruthers, Communications Manager for Revolution, said.
The event will feature a musical celebration of brass jams from Sousaphones Against Hate from
6-7 p.m. and a dance set from DJ Jill Hopkins from 7-10 p.m.. Alongside the entertainment, We
Are Family will feature the debut of Loud & Proud, a blood orange Session IPA. All sales of the
beer will go to benefit Chicago House from the day of the event through Sunday, December 16.
"With the holidays coming up, we also wanted to provide a warm, welcoming space for people
who may not be with their own families this year for whatever reason," Carruthers said. "And to
us, nothing's more welcoming than an army of sousaphones and a huge dance party."
We Are Family will also feature a silent auction, with items from partners including the Chicago
Bulls, Girl and the Goat Hospitality, the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel, and more, up for bid.
The winning bids will be tax deductible and processed directly through Chicago House.
Honey Butter Fried Chicken will be on-site serving food, and will be donating a portion of their
sales. Attendees can RSVP for updates and information on the We Are Family Facebook page.
