U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren has dropped out of the presidential race, ending her run after another round of disappointing finishes in Democratic primary contests across the country on Super Tuesday ( March 3 )including coming in third in her home state of Massachusetts.
The New York Times first reported that Warren is exiting the race.
On March 4, Warren began conversing with her team to assess things. Three weeks ago, the campaign said it was "poised" to finish in the top two in eight of the 14 states that vote on Super Tuesday, Politico reported. However, in 18 nomination contests, she did not finish above third place.
With several candidates leaving the race over the past few days, it is officially a race between U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders and former Vice Presiden Joe Bidenalthough U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard is still officially a candidate.
