Horizons Community Services and Howard Brown Health Center offer a first-of-its-kind postgraduate program to train mental health professionals in the theory and practice of counseling with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender clients and their families.
Following the launch of their Fall, 2000 Workshop Series, their Spring workshops will continue to provide clinicians with an in-depth understanding of LGBT people, using a broad range of clinical theory and treatment models as well as relevant sociological, anthropological, and historical perspectives.
Hours of attendance may be applied as credit toward completion of a Certificate in Clinical Practice with LGBT Individuals and Their Families, to be offered in 2001-2002. CEUs available for LSWs, LCSWs, LMFTs and LCPCs. All workshops will be held at Howard Brown Health Center, 4025 N. Sheridan Rd., Chicago. Youth and gender identity are two workshop focuses offered.
