AIDS Run & Walk Sept. 26 at Soldier Field

This year's AIDS Run & Walk Chicago, hosted by the AIDS Foundation of Chicago ( AFC ) and benefiting 35 other community organizations—known as CommunityDirect partners—on Saturday, Sept. 26, at Chicago's Soldier Field.

This year's message is "Put your foot down." In a statement, AFC President/CEO John Peller said, "We want supporters to put their foot down and make a difference in this epidemic, especially among communities most impacted by HIV."

The 35 CommunityDirect partners that will raise funds through this year's event will receive 90 percent of all money raised by their teams. Last year, the 32 CommunityDirect teams raised a combined $270,000.

Event registration is $40 in advance for 5K walkers, and $50 for 5K or 10K runners. To register as an individual or as a team, or to donate to a CommunityDirect team, visit AIDSRunWalk.org or call 312-334-0946. Online registration ends Sept. 20.

'Race Judicata' Sept. 10

Race Judicata—the weeknight 5K run & walk that raises money for the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services ( CVLS ) Foundation—returns for its 21st year on Thursday, Sept. 10.

Attracting nearly 5,000 participants ( including support from many of the city's top law firms ), the after-work run/walk takes place at Roosevelt Road and Columbus Avenue in Grant Park. The start time is 6:30 p.m.

Through the foundation, attorneys have volunteered free legal services for the working poor since 1964.

Chicago Sky playoff tickets on sale

Tickets to see the Chicago Sky in the 2015 WNBA playoffs are on sale.

Following a historic 2014 season in which the Sky won the Eastern Conference championship and advanced to the WNBA Finals for the first time in the team's history, Chicago has clinched its third consecutive post-season appearance, thanks to a 98-96 Chicago Sky victory over the Atlanta Dream and the Connecticut Sun's 80-66 loss to the New York Liberty on Aug. 29.

Tickets for the first round of the 2015 Sky playoffs start as low as $19 and fans can lock in a seat for every Sky playoff game and save up to 33 percent by taking advantage of a playoff plan. Call 866-SKY-WNBA or visit ChicagoSky.net .

Stonewall Kickball registration in effect

Stonewall Kickball, a non-profit kickball league, has launched its fall season registration.

The league will be playing on Sundays at 12-5 p.m. from Sept. 13 through Oct. 25. The league's main goal will be to help raise funds for the local non-profit Fred Says.
