MBC to exhibit icons of advertising
In a first-of-its-kind exhibition in Chicago, the Museum of Broadcast Communications (MBC), 360 N. State St., will present "A Salute to Advertising's Greatest Icons," running through Oct. 31.
Among the "30-second stars" and brands being showcased during the exhibition are General Mills' Pillsbury Doughboy and Jolly Green Giant; Kellogg's Tony the Tiger (Frosted Flakes); Snap, Crackle & Pop (Rice Krispies) and the Keebler Elves (Keebler); McDonald's Ronald McDonald; Procter & Gamble's Mr. Clean; 9 Lives' Morris the Cat, StarKist's Charlie the Tuna and S.C. Johnson's Raid Bugs.
A VIP exhibition opening reception will take place Friday, May 8 at 5:30 p.m. in the museum's new Paul M. Lisnek Gallery. VIP Tickets are $150 for the reception and awards presentation. Tickets to the awards presentation only are $75; visit www.museum.tv .
'Kisses from Mom' May 10 at Sidetrack
PFLAG will hold a "Kisses From Mom" event on Mother's Day (Sunday, May 10) 3-9 p.m. in front of Sidetrack, 3349 N. Halsted St.
PFLAG is accepting donations in exchange for a (chocolate) kiss from a mother. About two dozen PFLAG moms will give back this Mother's Day by rotating shifts throughout the event.

'Wright Plus 2015' May 16 in suburbs
Wright Plus 2015an architectural housewalk featuring rare interior tours of private homes designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and his contemporarieswill include five homes that have never before been seen on the walk.
Among the residences new to Wright Plus 2015 are three buildings on Wright's Avery Coonley Estate, as well as the Ernest Hemingway Boyhood Home. The 41st annual Housewalk will take place 9 a.m.-5 p.m., on Saturday, May 16, in Oak Park and Riverside, Ill.
Also on the Wright Plus tour is the place where Wright's innovative Prairie homes were conceived: Frank Lloyd Wright's Home and Studio, the oldest Wright building open as a public museum. The housewalk includes two 2015 World Heritage Site nomineesUnity Temple and Frederick C. Robie Houseboth designed in Wright's Oak Park studio.
Tickets are $110 each and $95 for members of the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust. Transportation between Oak Park and Riverside is included in the ticket. For more information, visit flwright.org .

Pride Fest set for June 20-21
Chicago Pride Fest returns to Boystown June 20-21 with a mix of national headliners and festival favorites.
The annual event, which the Northalsted Business Alliance hosts, debuts the "Keep Pride Proud" catch phrase.
On Saturday ( June 20 ), Deb Gibson, Jessica Sutta and The Veronicas take to the Main Stage. Sunday ( June 21 ) will feature Big Freedia, Crystal Waters, Estelle, Cazwell and St. Lucia.
The event will take place on Halsted Street from Addiston to Grace streets, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. There is a $10 suggested donation.
Madonna in Chicago Sept. 28 at UC
Live Nation has officially listed the dates of Madonna's "Rebel Heart" world tour.
Opening night is slated for Aug. 29 in Miami. Other cities on the North America segment of the tour include New York, LA, Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, Vancouver, Montreal and San Juan, Puerto Rico. In Europe, she will perform in cities such as Prague; Koln, Germany; Barcelona; Stockholm, Sweden; London; and Glasgow, Scotland.
She will perform in Chicago Sept. 28 at the United Center.
The Grammy winner's current single, "Living For Love," has topped the Billboard Dance Chartsher 44th time at number one on this list.

PianoForte marks 10 years with gala
PianoForte Foundation, the Chicago-based non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the art of the piano, will host its annual Gala"As Time Goes By"on Friday, May 8, 7-10 p.m., at Chicago's Ritz-Carlton Chicago, A Four Seasons Hotel, 160 E. Pearson St.
The evening, which celebrates the foundation's 10th anniversary, is hosted in the hotel's Concorde Room and includes a three-course dinner, live performances and auction, as well as a special award presentation for singer-actress Andrea Marcovicci. Veteran radio host and broadcaster Bill Moller serves as emcee for the evening.
