TransReelization fest Aug. 29
The second annual TransReelization film fest will take place Saturday, Aug. 29, at Kinowerks Studio, 5645 N. Ravenswood Ave.
The VIP reception is 6 p.m., with the general-admission part of the evening starting at 7:30 p.m.
This evening of cocktails, celebrities and film supports the critical work of the Chicago HouseTransLife Center. The studio is the production company of siblings Andy and Lana Wachowski.
VIP attendees will, among other things, meet the stars of the Wachowski's Netflix series Sense8; meet this year's TransReelization award recipient, Col. Jennifer N. Pritzker, IL ARNG ( retired ); and go on a tour of the studio.

ALCC's 'Tiki Holiday' at Sidetrack Aug. 12
AIDS Legal Council of Chicago's (ALCC's) annual summer benefit is set for Wed., Aug. 12, 6-9 p.m. at Sidetrack, 3349 N. Halsted St.
This year's theme is "Tiki Holiday: Escape to a Polynesian Paradise," and will feature specialty catering by Three Dots and a Dash, entertainment by Barefoot Hawaiian, cocktails by Sidetrack, the grand raffle and a silent auction.
All of the proceeds benefit ALCC's free legal services for low-income people with HIV. Tickets include cocktails, catered buffet and entertainment. They start at $75 and can be purchased at tiki2015.myab.co or 312-427-8990.
Kristin Lems to release CD
Chicago singer-songwriter Kristin Lems will release her seventh albumYou, Me, and All of the Aboveon Sunday, Aug. 16, at 7 p.m., at the Old Town School of Folk Music, 4544 N. Lincoln Ave.
Vocal arrangements on the album are by Susan Draus, music director for Mamma Mia! and The Book of Mormon and director of the Carole King musical Beautiful.
Among the songs on the 13-track CD are "The Heart of a Woman," about the wives and children who helped save the lives of the 33 entombed Chilean miners in 2010; and the local anthem "Chicago I Will."
