Tommy Tune at July 30 tap event

The Chicago Human Rhythm Project ( CHRP ) welcomes 10-time Tony Award winner Tommy Tune at its 25th-anniversary Jubalee Gala.

This evening, hosted by WGN's Dean Richards, takes place Thursday, July 30, at 5:30 p.m. at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, 220 E. Chicago Ave.

At the Jubalee, Tune will perform his one-man show Taps, Tunes and Tall Tales, an autobiographical journey. Mayor Rahm Emanuel is the gala's honorary chair.

EXPO Chicago reveals special exhibitions

EXPO Chicago, The International Exposition of Contemporary & Modern Art, has announced 25 special exhibitions to be included in the fourth annual exposition Sept. 17-20 at Navy Pier.

The special exhibitions program will join 140 galleries representing 16 countries and 46 cities from around the world.

A few of the special exhibitions are ShopColumbia, Columbia College Chicago's student and alumni art boutique; Human Rights Watch, which will showcase six photographs by world-renowned photographer Sebastiao Salgado; and Union League Club of Chicago presenting a selection of works by female artists who have shaped art in Chicago.

'Loving' looks at Gertrude Stein

Kokandy Productions will continue its 2015 season with Loving Repeating, a musical tribute to the life and loves of celebrated author Gertrude Stein.

Using Stein's own works as lyrics, the production is adapted by Frank Galati ( The Grapes of Wrath; The Accidental Tourist ), with music by Stephen Flaherty ( Ragtime; Seussical ), direction by Co-Artistic Director Allison Hendrix, music direction by Resident Music Director Kory Danielson and choreography by Andrea Louise Soule.

Loving Repeating will run through Aug. 30 at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Ave. Tickets are $25 ( previews July 18-19 )-$38 ( regular run ) each; visit KokandyProductions.com, call 773-975-8150 or stop by the Theater Wit box office.

'Dance for Life' on Aug. 15

Seven of Chicago's dance companies will once again come together for Dance for Life on Saturday, Aug. 15.

The gala reception will be at Hilton Chicago, 720 S. Michigan Ave., at 5 p.m. The performances will take place at Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University, 50 E. Congress Pkwy., at 7:30 p.m.

Participating companies include Giordano Dance Chicago, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Joffrey Ballet, River North Dance Chicago, C5, Chicago Human Rhythm Project and Same Planet Different World Dance Theatre.

Tickets are $15-$75 ( performance only ) and $250-$600 ( includes admission to the gala reception and premiere seating at the performance ); call 312-922-5812 or visit www.danceforlifechicago.org .
