'Paris Is Burning' at Logan on March 31

Paris Is Burning—Jennie Livingston's 1990 award-winning documentary about the Harlem drag-ball scene—will screen at Logan Center, 915 E. 60th St., on Thursday, March 31, at 7 p.m.

Solveig Nelson, an art critic and Ph.D. candidate in art history at the University of Chicago, will introduce the film.

Admission is free. See http://filmstudiescenter.uchicago.edu/events/2016/paris-burning.

Dan Savage's HUMP! festival April 8-9

Dan Savage—the writer behind the 20-year-running Savage Love advice column, LGBTQ and political activist, and co-creator of the It Gets Better Project—will run his HUMP! Film Festival at the Music Box Theater, 3733 N. Southport Ave., on April 8-9 with shows at 7 and 9:30 p.m.

The idea for the festival started in 2005, when Savage asked readers to send him homemade adult films. They did—in droves.

In addition, on Thursday, April 7, Savage will have a live recording of his podcast "Savage Lovecast" also at the Music Box, starting at 8:30 p.m. Savage will answer sex questions from the audience with some help from other revered freaks and "sexperts."

For an overview of each film and tickets for both events, check out Humpfilmfest.com .

MoCP exhibition through April 10

The Museum of Contemporary Photography ( MoCP ), 600 S. Michigan Ave., has announced free public programming related to the "MoCP at 40" exhibition, running through April 10.

All of the works on view will come from the museum's permanent collection of more than 14,000 objects. The exhibition will feature noteworthy collection works by more than 200 artists, including Diane Arbus, Roy DeCarava, Walker Evans, Sally Mann and Andy Warhol.

A screening of the 2009 lesbian-themed movie Hannah Free will take place Saturday, April 16, at the Gene Siskel Film Center, 164 N. State St., at 3 p.m.

Among those slated to attend are cast members such as Sharon Gless, and screenwriter Claudia Allen.
