'A Night with Oscar' Feb. 28 at Center
The Center on Halsted, 3656 N. Halsted St., will host the Academy Award-related event "A Night with Oscar" on Sunday, Feb. 28.
Doors will open for red-carpet arrivals at 6 p.m., and there will be bar service and a buffet. The Oscars telecast starts at 7:30 p.m.
There will be the Green Room, described as "a sparkling party for radiant red-carpet revelers." The ceremony will stream live on the big screen in the Screening Room.

Siskel to honor Johansson
The Gene Siskel Film Center (GSFC) of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) will pay tribute to Tony and BAFTA winner and four-time Golden Globe nominee Scarlett Johansson on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at The Ritz-Carlton Chicago, 160 E. Pearson St.
Past honorees include Mark Ruffalo, Morgan Freeman, Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon, Jamie Foxx, Robert Downey Jr. and George Lucas, among others.

YEPP's 'Making It Home' Jan. 22-31
The Youth Empowerment Performance Project ( YEPP ) will run Making It Home at the Athenaeum Theatre, 2936 N. Southport Ave., on Jan. 22-24 and 29-31.
Making It Home is the real-life journey of the ensemble members to discover their inner power and become agents of change in their communities and their struggle to find their inner home. As part of this search, the ensemble members created awareness about social issues that have been impacting the LGBTQ youth communities.

Gallery to host sexual-assault exhibit
The Awakenings Foundation—the home of the only known collection of rape-survivor artwork—has announced its first curated exhibit, "Graphic Relief," which will feature international comic book, graphic novel and zine media artists who deal with the topic of street harassment.
Artists are welcome to submit, regardless of survivor identity, as long as works speak to the topic.
The Awakenings Foundation exists to help survivors of sexual assault heal through the creative arts. This exhibit will open up our mission to a wider community of artists and patrons by tackling the epidemic of street harassment and catcalling, which has been thrust into a spotlight in recent digital and social media.

Artemis Singers shows Jan. 23-24
The nonprofit Artemis Singers ( www.artemissingers.org ) will present "Wildest Dreams," a concert where lesbian feminists musically share their visions, at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, and at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, at the Ethical Humanist Society, 7574 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie.
Among other things, the group will present the liberty piece, "Universal Dream," by Jenni Brandon with text by Meta Hellman, Artemis Singers president, and Jane Addams.
