Haymarket Riot reading Aug. 29
In commemoration of the 130th anniversary of Chicago's Haymarket Riot, there will be a table reading of Bloody Haymarket on Saturday, Aug. 29, at 11 a.m. at the Irish-American Heritage Center, 4626 N. Knox Ave.
Actors Ben David Garza and Eric J. Coleman will be bringing to life an original theatrical performance of the grisly events of the 1880s.

Chicago Fashion Fest Aug. 29-30 in Wicker Park
Chicago Fashion Fest is returning to Wicker Park for a seventh consecutive year Aug. 29-30.
The event will feature local designers, retail and couture runway shows under the stars. The weekend celebration of local fashion talent also features summer street-fest fun, including local food vendors, a Shopper's Row, family and pet activities, a VIP Fashion Suite & Sangria Lounge, and live music programmed by Wicker Park's own Subterranean nightspot.
A new element this year is the "IT GIRL" runway competition presented by Jaslene Gonzalez, winner of America's Next Top Model.

Local museum to host 'Downton' exhibit in 2016
The Richard H. Driehaus Museum, 40 E. Erie St., will exhibit "Dressing Downton: Changing Fashion for Changing Times" on Feb. 9-May 8, 2016.
The exhibit features more than 35 costumes from the popular British television series Downton Abbey. The show is filming its sixth and final season.
The award-winning costumes are produced by renowned London costume house Cosprop Ltd. Many use original fabrics and embellishments from the early 20th century, while others are re-created from old photographs, paintings, patterns, and magazine pictures.
Due to the anticipated popularity of the exhibition, Driehaus visitors will be required to purchase advance tickets online or by phone. Tickets will be available for purchase starting Oct. 7, 2015, at DriehausMuseum.org or 312-482-8933, ext. 21 .
Equity Jeff Award nods announced
Stage, screen and television actor Michael Shannon announced the 2014-2015 Equity Jeff Awards Aug. 21 at JeffAwards.org .
Six world premiere plays, three world-premiere musicals and three new adaptations seen first by Chicago audiences were among those receiving Jeff nominations by the Jeff Awards Committee. More than 180 nominations in 36 categories honor Chicago Equity theatrical productions that opened between Aug. 1, 2014 and July 31, 2015.
In its first year of Jeff Awards eligibility, Paramount Theatre led all theatres with 16 nominations, all for musicals in the Large Theatre category. Nominations for plays at Large Theatres were led by Steppenwolf Theatre Company, with 12; Chicago Shakespeare Theatre received 11 nods.
All are invited to the 47th Annual Jeff Awards ceremony honoring excellence in Chicago theatre; it will be held Monday, Oct. 5, at Drury Lane Oakbrook, 100 Drury Lane, Oakbrook Terrace. Emceeing the festivities are multi-talented award winning performers Cheryl Lynn Bruce and E. Faye Butler.
