'East of Eden' cast announced
Steppenwolf Theatre Company announced the full cast for the first show of its 40th-anniversary seasonthe world-premiere production of John Steinbeck's East of Eden.
The cast features ensemble members Kate Arrington as Cathy Trask, Francis Guinan as Samuel Hamilton, Tim Hopper as Adam Trask and Alan Wilder as Dr. Murphy and Mr. Bacon. The production is a reunion for Guinan, Hopper, Wilder and Kinney, all who appeared in Galati's 1988 adaptation of The Grapes of Wrath.
East of Eden begins previews Sept. 17 and runs through Nov. 15 in Steppenwolf's Downstairs Theatre, 1650 N. Halsted St.
In addition, ensemble member and Tony-winning director Anna D. Shapiro will direct ensemble member Tracy Letts' new play, Mary Page Marlowe, featuring a 17-member cast to be announced in the coming months.

Harris Theatre unveils 2015-16 dance season
The Harris Theater for Music and Dance President and Managing Director Michael Tiknis announced the dance performances for the 2015—16 "Harris Theater Presents" season.
The 2015—2016 season at the Harris will begin with the Harris debut of AXIS Dance Company on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 6 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 10, at 2 p.m. AXIS Dance Company has become one of the world's most acclaimed and innovative ensembles of performers with and without disabilities.
Jessica Lang Dance will perform Wed., Nov. 6, at 7:30 p.m. Lang will create a new dance for her company in collaboration with architect Steven Holl.
Hamburg Ballet will perform Tuesday-Wed., Feb. 23-24, at 7:30 p.m. with its interpretation of William Shakespeare's Othello. The company will also perform Third Symphony of Gustav Mahler on Friday-Saturday, Feb. 26-27, at 7:30 p.m.
Lucky Plush Productions will present "Trip the Light Fantastic: The Making of SuperStrip" on Thursday, March 3, at 7:30 p.m. Mark Morris Dance Group will perform Morris' masterwork Dido and Aeneas on Tuesday-Wed., April 5-6, at 7:30 p.m. Lastly, Miami City Ballet will make its Harris Theatre debut Friday-Saturday, April 29-30, at 7:30 p.m.

Other Theatre's 'Bent' at Strawdog June, July
The Other Theatre Company and Artistic Director Carin Silkaitis are presenting Bent, written by Martin Sherman and directed by Keira Fromm, at Strawdog Theatre, 3829 N. Broadway, June 27-July 26.
A Pulitzer Prize-nominated WWII drama from Martin Sherman, Bent focuses on two men who find love in a concentration camp. According to a press release, "Sherman draws exquisitely detailed characters, each of whom embodies a different personal relationship to queer ( or 'bent' ) desire in 1930s Germany."
