Tommy Tune at July 30 tap event

The Chicago Human Rhythm Project (CHRP) welcomes 10-time Tony Award winner Tommy Tune at its 25th-anniversary Jubalee Gala.

This evening, hosted by WGN's Dean Richards, takes place Thursday, July 30, at 5:30 p.m. at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, 220 E. Chicago Ave.

At the Jubalee, Tune will perform his one-man show Taps, Tunes and Tall Tales, an autobiographical journey. Mayor Rahm Emanuel is the gala's honorary chair.

'Circo Tap' June 27

Chicago Tap Theatre (CTT) will present the world-premiere production of Circo Tap—choreographed by CTT Artistic Director Mark Yonally with music direction by CTT Music Director Kurt Schewitz—at the Athenaeum Theatre, 2936 N. Southport Ave., on Saturday, June 27 at 8 p.m.

Chicago Tap Theatre continues its circus odyssey that began this spring with the behind-the-scenes-inspired TightWire, a live performance combining traditional circus arts with tap dance.

Tickets are $35 for adults, $27 for seniors (65 years or older), and $22 for students and dancers. Purchase tickets at www.athenaeumtheatre.org or 773-935-6875.

'We Gotta Bingo' opens Aug. 3

We Gotta Bingo—an interactive dinner-theater experience in the vein of Tony n' Tina's Wedding—will officially open in Chicago on Monday, Aug. 3, at 7 p.m. at the new Chicago Theater Works, 1113 W. Belmont Ave.

The show, directed by Ross Young, allows guests to mix and mingle with a lively cast of characters while eating, drinking and playing bingo.

'Dance for Life' on Aug. 15

Seven of Chicago's dance companies will once again come together for Dance for Life on Saturday, Aug. 15.

The gala reception will be at Hilton Chicago, 720 S. Michigan Ave., at 5 p.m. The performances will take place at Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University, 50 E. Congress Pkwy., at 7:30 p.m.

Participating companies include Giordano Dance Chicago, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Joffrey Ballet, River North Dance Chicago, C5, Chicago Human Rhythm Project and Same Planet Different World Dance Theatre.

Tickets are $15-$75 ( performance only ) and $250-$600 ( includes admission to the gala reception and premiere seating at the performance ); call 312-922-5812 or visit www.danceforlifechicago.org .

'Chefs and the City' June 25 at Montgomery

Heartland Health Outreach, Inc. ( HHO ) has announced the return of its annual "Chefs and the City" tasting event at the Montgomery Club, 500 w. Superior St., on Thursday, June 25, 6:30-9:30 p.m.

More than 20 chefs from Chicago restaurants will share their cuisine at the event. Honorary chairs Nina and Bob Mariano ( Mariano's ) and Cat De Orio ( WTTW Chicago's Check, Please! ) will host.
