Bayard Rustin event April 25 at church
An event focused on civil-rights icon Bayard Rustin will take place 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, at University Church, 5655 S. University Ave.
Walter Naegle, Rustin's partner, will be the keynote speaker. Panelists Jamie Frazier of The Lighthouse Church of Chicago, Kim L. Hunt of Affinity Community Services and community organizer Veronica Morris Moore will ponder his life and legacy as well as community organizing todayand tomorrow.
Other activities will include a screening of Brother Outsider, a documentary about Rustin's life. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. Sponsors include the Bayard Rustin Society at Chicago Theological Seminary, University Church, Chicago Metropolitan Association of United Church of Christ and Affinity.

The LGBT-inclusive Congregation Or Chadash will hold its 40th-anniversary area Saturday, April 25, 6-10:30 p.m., at the Hotel Allegro, 171 W. Randolph St.
The congregation will honor the service and commitment of cantorial soloist Judith Golden and founding members Bob Cohn and Frank Nussbaum. There will also be hors d'oeuvres, dinner, music and a silent auction.

Queer Asian-American archive event April 28
"Preserving Community: Celebrating the Queer Asian-American Archive Project" will take place Tuesday, April 28, at the Daley Library at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), 801 S. Morgan St., Room 1-470, 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Individuals connected with the project will officially transfer the collected oral histories, digital images and documents of Chicago i2i and Mango Tribe to the UIC Archives.
The event is free and open to the public. The space is wheelchair-accessible, and attendees are asked to refrain from wearing scents for this event. Those who need accommodations should email lthomson@uic.edu at least one week ahead of time.
'Fashion 2015' at Millennium Park
The School of the Art Institute of Chicago ( SAIC ) has announced the 81st edition of its annual runway show, Fashion 2015.
Presented Friday, May 8, three times throughout the day ( 9 a.m., 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. ) at Millennium Park's Chase Promenade, Fashion 2015 will culminate with "The Walk," SAIC's annual benefit supporting the production of student work and scholarships.
Fashion 2015 is a runway show featuring more than 200 original garments created by undergraduate students in SAIC's fashion-design program, which has such distinguished alumni as Halston, Cynthia Rowley, Maria Pinto and Gary Graham.
"The Walk" kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception and continues at 6:30 p.m. with a performance piece entitled "The Dolls." Immediately following "The Walk," guests will enjoy a strolling dinner at the rooftop terrace of Millennium Park's Harris Theater.

Third Wainwright show added at Winery
A third show featuring out singer Rufus Wainwright has been added to the slate at City Winery, 1200 W. Randolph St.
Wainwright will also perform Monday, May 4. Tickets are $80-$90 each; see www.CityWinery.com .
The May 5 and 6 shows are sold out, according to the website.
Wainwright has released seven studio albums and two live albums to date, including his Grammy-nominated Rufus Does Judy At Carnegie Hall!, which captured his Judy Garland tribute performance at the London Palladium in 2007.

Steppenwolf annual gala on May 9
Steppenwolf Theatre Company will join more than 600 members of Chicago's corporate, civic and cultural communities for "Gala 2015" on Saturday, May 9, at Steppenwolf, 1650 N. Halsted St., at 6:30 p.m.
The event will offer guests a unique opportunity to connect with Steppenwolf ensemble members in their artistic home while enjoying a preview of upcoming productions, cocktails, a gourmet dinner, auction, music and dancing with Steppenwolf co-founder Gary Sinise and his Lt. Dan Band.
Gala 2015 will start with a special tribute to Steppenwolf Artistic Director Martha Lavey. Following the tribute, guests will view an exclusive showcase of scenes from Steppenwolf's U.S. premiere production of Rory Kinnear's The Herd.
