Spring is in the air and that means plenty of new tunes blooming everywhere. Before I lay down the list of tunes, I must start with congratulations to Roger Sanchez on winning his award as Remixer of the Year, for putting it down on the No Doubt single, 'Hella Good.' Over the years, it's been great to see DJ's get more props than just having their name on the label for credits. Past winners of this category include David Morales, Peter Rauhofer and Frankie Knuckles. I was so excited to see him at Vision nightclub that I left sweating and my ankles sore from dancing!

Stuck at home on a Saturday night and looking to hear some great house music? Tune your ears to The Groove Temple on WLUV, 88.7 FM, from 11:30 p.m.-2 a.m., hosted by DJ Shani Herbet. Guest DJ's frequent the show alongside her and the vibe is always tight.

New releases are dropping like flies and are certainly evident as Tedd Patterson's 'Magnifique' get the remix treatment by Chu and Ceballos on Fluential records. Oscar G, one half of the Murk Boys, whose hit, 'Dark Beat' gets the remix treatment and should hit the shelves soon. Kerri Chandler returns with 'Street Musiq.' X-Press2 releases another single from their 2001 release, Muzikism, entitled 'Call That Love,' featuring the vocals of Steve Edwards, with remixes by Rob Rives. The second single from Missy Elliott's album, Under Construction, 'Gossip Folks' certainly was no hazard. As the double-pack vinyl includes the album and instrumental versions, but contains remixes by Fatboy Slim and 5 different alternate remixes by Mousse T. La India who returned from a long absence with Mi Alma y Corazon, has her single, 'Seduceme' remixed by Chicago's own Tony Cano, out on Jellybean Recordings. Tony has completed remixes for Richard Rodgers 'The Light' and J 'So High.'

Afro-Mystik (OM Records)

Merge Afro-Brazilian beats, native drums and jazz like a canvas blending vibrant tones and you have discovered the sounds of Afro-Mystik. Chris Smith aka DJ Fluid formed the group in 1999, as a fusion of DJ Culture and live percussion, meshing various influences into a sound unlike no other. Originally producing downbeat, breaks and house, Afro-Mystik became his alter ego, allowing him to explore his passion for African and Brazilian rhythms.

The band consists of six members with Smith on keyboards, Simone White (drums), Carlos Ariza (percussion, guitar and flute), JSN (percussion), lead vocalist Omega and guest MC Capital A. Poetic symmetry collaborates on tracks 'Rhythm Is?' and 'The Odyssey,' as hip-hop enhances the groove on 'Who Are You?' and 'Come Together,' by MC Capital A. Other highlights on this albums mastery include 'Secrets,' 'Natural' and my favorite being 'Samba Del Alma.'

Warm, tropical, hip-shaking rhythms fueled by jazz infused soul with a global twist. This is one release you do not want to miss out on. The new album will be in stores April 22. Plans are in the works for the second Sounds of OM World tour, which will feature Afro-Mystik, Kaskade and Mark Farina. For more information on any and all OM releases, visit their website at www.omrecords.com .
