The Chicago Triathlon took place Aug. 27 and, in its 35th year, race organizers decided to incorporate a brand-new Underwear Run, a one-mile run hosted on the lakefront with 500 strangers dashing around in their underwear ( with optional costumes ).
The new event kicked off the Tri weekend on Aug. 25; followed by the kids triathlon on Aug. 26, and the main event on Aug. 27.
Funds from the Underwear Run will benefit the 100 Club of Chicagoa local organization that provides support to families of first responders who lost their lives in the line of duty.
As for the Triathlon, adults competed on either Supersprint, Sprint or Internaltional/Olympic levels; the total distance of each was 7.95, 18.57 and 31.93 miles, respectively.
