Swimmer Schuyler Bailar will be the speaker for Illinois State University's ( ISU's ) Housing Services LGBTQA Cultural Dinner at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, in the Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Normal.
A recent graduate of Harvard University, Bailar is the first openly transgender NCAA Division I swimmer, and the first publicly documented NCAA D1 transgender man to compete as a man in any sport.
Cultural dinners at ISU aim to celebrate and educate. Guests will be served a meal catered by the Bloomington/Normal Marriott featuring a variety of Korean items.
Tickets for the dinner are available at Housing.IllinoisState.edu for $20 each. Tickets will be available online until Friday, Sept. 13, or until sold out. Tickets will not be sold at the door.
