CHICAGO — EVET Arts, a new theatre company based jointly in Chicago and Boston, will make its Chicago debut with a new work of physical theatre entitled Trajectories: Part 1.

Trajectories will run one week only, Thursday, Nov. 8 throught Sunday, Nov. 11 with a pay-what-you-can preview on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at the Athenaeum Theatre, 2936 N. Southport Ave, Chicago. Performances, including the preview, are Wednesday throught Saturday at 8 PM plus Saturday and Sunday matinees at 3 PM. Trajectories, which is being developed in three parts, is based on interviews the company conducted with American Iraq and Afghanistan War veterans and Iraqi refugees living in Chicago.

Trajectories explores the Iraq War through the eyes of a US soldier (Part 1) and an Iraqi civilian (Part 2) and examines the places their experiences overlap (Part 3). Part one saw its workshop premiere in Boston in October 2012 and Parts two and three of the series will be developed in Spring and Fall 2013 respectively. Trajectories explores themes of searching for identity and the reality of loss.

The cast uses various physical theatre traditions to adapt authentic military movement to fit into theatrical time alongside projected graphics and traditional stage combat to create a visually explosive theatrical experience.

Trajectories aims to open lines of communication and idea sharing between Americans and Iraqis, soldiers and civilians and students and teachers. The company is inviting audience members to stay after every show for talk-backs where they will be able to share their thoughts on the work in progress and their experiences with the political situation on which the piece is based.

Trajectories: Part 1 is being collaboratively created and performed by: Robert Najarian (Sleep No More, NYC), James Milord (two-time Boston IRNE nominee), Jordan Sobel and Cassandra Meyer.

Written by two award-winning playwrights: former Marine Corps Sergeant Chris Mandia & Boston physical theatre expert Meron Langsner, PhD. Directed by EVET Arts Artistic Director Hannah J Barth.

Tickets are $15 for general admission, $12 for students and seniors and $10 for veterans, active duty service members and self—identifying members of the Chicago Iraqi community and are available online through the Athenaeum Theatre's website ( athenaeumtheatre.org ) as well as at the door.

About EVET Arts EVET Arts' mission is to close gaps of cultural understanding by devising new works of physical theatre based on the stories of those who have lived through today's most socially and culturally significant events. The company is a 501c3 registered nonprofit. www.EVETarts.org
