Thousands at Wizard World Comic Con; Archie artist talks Russia

Thousands of comic-book and sci-fi aficionados were in Rosemont this past weekend as Wizard World Chicago Comic Con took place at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center.
The event seemed literally larger as, this year, it was held on two levels—including the upper level, where the autograph area was. Featured guests included actors such as Michael Shannon, Brandon Routh, Zachary Quinto, Summer Glau, Ralph Macchio, Lou Ferrigno, Morena Baccarin, Michael Rosenbaum, Verne Troyer, Linda Blair, Manu Bennett, Andrew McCarthy and Eddie McClintock, among many others.
Among the artists/writers present was Dan Parent, known for his work on the Archie Comics and for creating gay character Kevin Keller. Talking with Back2Stonewall.com, Parent said that Russia's new anti-gay laws are "really upsetting."
He added, "Russia should be boycotted, so much so that actually in an upcoming special four issue story arch I'm writing the Archie gang are going to take a world tour to four countries. Russia was to be one of them. But they're not going there now. They just can't and they won't. They love and support Kevin."
