The kvetching continues since Theater Wit's acclaimed production of Joshua Harmon's scathing comedy Bad Jews is back again in its fifth extension and third venue. So if you missed seeing this play involving three cousins doing battle over a family heirloom, then you can choose your favorites and take sides now in the intimate cabaret space of the Royal George Theatre. Bad Jews begins again Friday, Aug. 28, and runs through Sunday, Oct. 4, at 1641 N. Halsted St. Performances are 8 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays with 2 p.m. matinees on Sundays and on Saturdays beginning Sept. 12. Tickets are $25-$48. Critics' Picks
Art, Amazing Sammo Productions at Gorilla Tango Theatre, through Aug. 29. It's the most viscerally and comically accessiblenot to mention the most Americanversion of Yasmina Reza's play that you'll ever see. MSB
The Boy from Oz, Pride Films and Plays at Stage 773, through Aug. 30. The real-life Peter Allen self-destructed too soon to ensure his place in pop history, but Chris Logan (so sexy in the recent Murder Ballad) endows his portrayal with all the charismatic dazzle missing from the original. MSB
Brilliant Adventures, Steep Theatre, through Aug. 29. A little Pinteresque menace, a lot of kitchen-sink drama and British post-industrial funk. But it's young playwright Alistair McDowall's sci-fi twist and well-etched characters that mark it as special, along with the best damn acting I've seen in a long time. JA
Grand Concourse, Steppenwolf Theatre, through Aug. 30. An enthusiastic young volunteer at a New York soup kitchen prompts several crises of faith in Heidi Schrecks' drama that features great performances from Mariann Mayberry and Francis Guinan. SCM
