Holy crap, what a lot of big events coming up in the next few weeks! For the full monty, see our threecount 'em, threepages of calendar listings. But here's a brief smattering of highlights for your nightlife consideration.
Mister International Rubber 18 squeezes its way into town, Wed., Oct. 29 through Sun., Nov. 2. See calendar for a listing of events at Center on Halsted, as well as MIR parties at Touche, Manhole, Jackhammer, Sidetrack, and Steamworks.
If you're not too stretched out after those rubber events, stop in on my good friends at the Windy City Empire as they host their 11th coronation ( plus four as The Barony ), taking place once again this year at Charlie's, Sat., Nov. 1. Crown Prince Neil Douglas St. James has done an amazing job this year spearheading the virtual resurrection of this long-running fundraising organization, which has now been active in Chicago's LGBT community for 15 years. Great job, Neil and all of those whose efforts have made a real difference.
Still time to make it out to Fear City Haunted House before all this Halloweeniness goes away. See www.fearcitychicago.com for spooooky details and scaaaaary directions.
And catch the Northalsted Halloween Parade which, like soooo many other gay things this Halloween, is Freak Show themed. How many Elsa Marses do you think we'll see? I'm betting a lot. Halloween night, freaks!
TPAN's Barlesque 7: Let's Get Physical is set to kick off Wed., Nov. 5 at Charlie's. With 18 contestants representing all your favorite bars ( plus Steamworks ), you're sure to find the jock of your choice. The more you donate, the more they take off ( in hot photos by KJ Heath ). I was honored to serve on the committee for Barlesque last year and my efforts are still behind them. And the view is pretty good. See the calendar for scads of individual fundraising events.
And to end this column, let's talk about me for a minute. 40-year-old me, as of the street date of this issue! I'm planning on making a week of it. Please come wish me some 40th b-day love on Thu., Oct. 30 at my special Birthday Trivia night at The Glenwood at 9. I'll be extra saucy on the mic, what with all this newly-acquired, age-related wisdom.
And as mentioned in the last issue, I am hosting the Sat., Nov. 1 DILF at The Sofo Tap, titled "Day of the DILF." Get ready for some mature fun.
