As Sal-E prepares to ship off after what seems like the 4 million years we've known and loved her in Chicago, Smart Bar's Queen! threw a lovely going away getdown. I was not able to attend, but thanks to the meticulous photography of one Mr. Roger Cummings, you can take a look back at the many moods of Sal-E from her appearances as host of the Sunday night staple. See you, Sal. Chicago just got slightly less fabtastic.
You know, "fabtastic" was a typo, but as I went to correct it, it struck me as perfect. Just a little off-center. Just a little Sal-E.
Jerry Nunn caught up with the 8 trillion ( yes, I'm on a hyperbole kick ) of you at the Robyn show at Millennium Park's Pritzker Pavilion. I was out at the bars during the show. Nobody was there with me. The Scandinavian wave swallowed you all, apparently.
Another fond farewell goes to Mark Ortega, whose farewell show at @mosphere I characteristically JUUUUST missed. No lie. As I rounded the corner of Clark and Balmoral, I heard "Thanks, good night" coming from the open window. It's okay, I'm familiar with the amazing talents of Mark, as well as guest performers Michael McBride and James Gavin. We sat around for a while afterwards and talked Gay Idol and shit. Somehow the conversation turned to regularity ( ya know, of the colon ) and I predicted that when Beyoncé turns 40, she'll release a track entitled "I Woke Up This Regular." Just you wait and see!
No photos from the wedding of Johnny and Jason, owners of Club Krave, as I was just there to share the love. And oh, what love there was! Each of them had eight groomsmen, a number of which from their reliable stable of Club Krave queens, so it was a bit odd to see them all in tuxes. But you could still see the queen in 'em. Especially Serina : )
Stay tuned for photos from Miss Continental in the next issue. Whose glamour will reign supreme?!
And on a personal note, RIP Iggy Williamson, June 25, 2003 - August 23, 2014. Who will lick my beard now? :(
