Takei, Elling at Oct. 14 'Galaxy' concert

The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra's spectacle "The Galaxy's Greatest Hits"—which will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing—will take place Monday, Oct. 14, at 7:30 p.m. at the Symphony Center, 220 S. Michigan Ave.

There will be guest performances and appearances by Charlie Duke ( former astronaut ), George Takei ( Star Trek cast member ), Kurt Elling ( Grammy-winning jazz star from Chicago ) and James Morrison ( Australian jazz musician ).

The world-renowned symphony will perform favorite space classics from Star Wars, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Gustav Holst's The Planets, Star Trek, Apollo 13 and more as the hall is transformed with atmospheric lighting and HD images of space.
