TRQPITECA, Night Out in the Parks June 30 at Ping Tom Memorial Park
2019-06-14

facebook twitter google +1 reddit email

Chicago, IL - June is Pride month, and 2019 marks the 50th year that queer people across the world collectively celebrate community since the Stonewall Riots of New York City created a revolution of civil rights for LGBTQIA+ people.

Artist duo and production company, TRQPITECA, presents Queer Pride Chicago 2019 in affiliation with

the Chicago Park District's "Night Out in the Parks" series. TRQPITECA also intersects with community partners such as organizations like KeepingitLITE.org , a study about the life and health of LGBTQ youth. Since 2015, the duo and founders of TRQPiTECA La Spacer and Cqqchifruit have created space for queer and underground art and dance music culture to thrive not just in Chicago but throughout the midwest, Miami, and internationally.

The event takes place Sunday, June 30, 2019 from 3 p.m.-10 p.m. at Ping Tom Memorial Park, Chicago between the Pagoda and directly under the 18th street bridge. Enter at park entrance at the intersection of W. 19th St and S. Wells.

About Queer Pride Chicago:

TRQPITECA Queer Pride Chicago 2019 is an art, music, and community festival

celebrating queer, trans, nonbinary, and LGBIA+ existence and resilience, presented as

a part of the Chicago's Park District's Night Out in the Parks.

Free, all-ages, wheelchair accessible, and open to the public, TRQPITECA Pride aims to

bring together people across ages and identities for an exploration of alternatives to

mainstream notions of "Pride", via artists representing Chicago's queer undergrounds

rooted in house and techno music. We also seek to bring Chicago's queer and ally

communities access to health care and wellness resources servicing Chicago.

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Queer Family BBQ presented by Queering the Parks Teen Planning Committee and Chicago Parks District 3 p.m.-10 p.m.: TRQPiTECA Queer Pride Chicago 2019 will be featuring visuals by ColorSwim, DJs, performances, installations, community organizations, vendors, and more!

About TRQPITECA:

TRQPiTECA is a Chicago-based artist duo and production company creating space for

local and international artists working with queer and tropical aesthetics to experiment

and thrive, with tropical, house, and techno dance music as our foundation. Since 2015,

co-founders and resident DJs Jacquelyn Carmen Guerrero ( Cqqchifruit ) and Natalie

Murillo ( La Spacer ) curate this environment through the incorporation of installation art,

video, dance music, and performances. Over the 4 years of TRQPITECA's existence, we

have worked with over 260 performance artists, visual artists, DJs, and musicians from

Chicago and around the world, with the intention of fostering creative engagement with

the diverse communities of which we are a part.
