Chicago, Illinois, December January 26, 2015Test Positive Aware Network ( TPAN ) received a grant for general operations in the amount of $115,000 from the Alphawood Foundation on January 8, 2015.
The Alphawood Foundation has been a strong supporter of TPAN for many years and this unrestricted funding will help to support the agency's operating costs not covered by grants. For more than 27 TPAN has delivered HIV/AIDS-related programs for hundreds of individuals each year who are living below the federal poverty level and impacted by HIV/AIDS. The agency specializes in address the co-morbidities which disproportionately impact those living with HIV or vulnerable to HIV infection, including insufficient medical care, mental illness, substance use, incarceration, and lack of family support. General operations funding from Alphawood ensures that TPAN has the financial resources to eliminate any gaps in funding which may impact the agency's ability to continue offering its programs at no cost to clients.
"The Alphawood Foundation has been a strong supporter of TPAN's for several years", said Patti Capouch, Chief Executive Officer. "The Foundation understands that at a time when non-profits struggle for funding that this grant is incredibly important for us to continue what we do so our clients can become healthier and experience a higher quality of life. TPAN works to make these funds go as far as possible and we find ways to help leverage other resources to ensure the success of our under funded programs".
In addition to Alphawood, TPAN was recently awarded a $20,000 grant from the AIDS Foundation of Chicago through their Challenge Grant program. The funding is for innovative programs that address immediate and long-term priorities in an ever-changing HIV/AIDS landscape. TPAN will launch a new prevention program with the funding, Lifeline, which will provide an evidence-based intervention for people who test negative but are still vulnerable to HIV.
