Stonewall Democrats of Illinois Candidate Endorsements

Chicago, IL, 12/11 -- The Stonewall Democrats of Illinois ( SDI ) today announced its endorsement of candidates for state, federal and county offices.

SDI is the only state-wide grassroots organization focused on electing LGBT and issues-friendly candidates to public office.

"Some of these candidates are openly gay or lesbian, while others are our allies," said 

Andy Shapero of SDI.  "What they have in common is that they not only support equality for LGBT citizens, but have expressed a firm commitment to fight for issues so important to the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgendered community."

SDI's full slate of endorsed candidates for the 2010 cycle consists of:

Jacob Meister - U.S. Senate

Julie Hamos - U.S. Congress, IL-10th District

Dan Hynes - Illinois Governor

Robin Kelly - Illinois Treasurer

Linda Pauel - Cook County Circuit Court Judge

John Dalton - Kane County Resident Judge

Jim Madigan - Illinois Senate, 7th District

Greg Harris - Illinois Rep, 13th District

Ed Mullen - Illinois Rep, 11th District

David Schroeder, Illinois Rep, 5th District

Patrick Keenan-Devlin, Illinois Rep, 18th District

Toni Preckwinkle - Cook County Board President

Todd Connor — Metropolitan Water Reclamation District

The Mission of the Stonewall Democrats of Illinois is to:  

* defend and promote the rights of Illinois' LGBT citizens

* fight for marriage equality, non-discrimination, and other LGBT concerns

* mobilize the community in support of LGBT & issues-friendly candidates and provide critical information regarding candidates the public

* support community organizations which represent and defend LGBT citizens
