Kelly Clarkson, Mary J. Blige, Florence and the Machine, Jennifer Hudson and Jill Scott were among those who headlined the "VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul" show Dec. 19 at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom, according to MTV.com .
Hudson, Clarkson and Blige sang the Supremes' "You Keep Me Hangin' On," before launching into a medley of their own tracks, including "Spotlight," "Real Love" and "Since U Been Gone."
Many other singersincluding Erykah Badu, Estelle, Mavis Staples, Chaka Khan, and Ledisi, as well as a few guys ( Boyz II Men and Travie McCoy ) sang some of the biggest hits from soul music's history. Among the songs were "Nowhere to Run" by Martha and the Vandellas, "Walking on Broken Glass" by Annie Lennox, "I'll Take You There" by the Staple Singers and "Ain't Nobody" by Khan.
A tribute to the late singer Amy Winehouse was among the night's highlights as well. Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings ( the latter of whom worked with her on her Back to Black album ) , Florence Welch and Wanda Jackson sang Winehouse's songs, including "Back to Black" and You Know I'm No Good."
