The heat and thunderstorms didn't stop soccer from finishing strong at Gay Games VII. Preliminary rounds were at Oak Park River Forest High School and Barrie Park in that near west suburb, which rolled out the pink carpet for soccer, badminton and tennis last week. The final rounds were at University of Illinois in Chicago.
In the Men's A Division, Stonewall defeated the Florida Storm 3-1 in a tough overtime match for the gold, while New York Ramblers took the bronze over The Americas team. In Women's A, San Francisco lost to Wisconsin's Thunderkittens for the gold. Chicago's Kickers won the bronze after defeating the Urban Legends.
In Women's B, Wisconsin's All Shades of Wrong defeated the London Hackney Women's Football Club, and South Africa defeated the Windy City Times team for bronze.
