Several of the cast members of touring shows for The Lion King and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical joined forces to raise money on their one night off from work.
"Can You Feel the Earth Move?: A Holiday Cabaret to Benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS" brought in a full house Dec. 14 at Boystown nightspot Sidetrack. Choosing from a mix of musical standards to holiday songs, the crowd heard everything from Wicked's "Popular" to "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus." Although not the actual Drifters, a group modeled after them ( from the production Beautiful ) showed up to sing "White Christmas."
A silent auction had attendees bidding on items from both musicals. The finale had everyone singing "Here Comes Santa Claus."
