Leaders in the U.S. Senate decided to postpone a vote on the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" ( DADT ) Dec. 8, according to the New York Times.

The delay will be at least for one day.

Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., was reportedly consulting with Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine to work out details of the debate on the DADT-repeal measure. Collins supports lifting DADT, but also wnats Republicans to have enough time to debate the Pentagon measure.

Two more senators—Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, and Mark Pryor, D-Ark.—have also come out as supporting repeal of the policy.
