Seeing the Sites

1. Gay Date Cam (http:www.gaydatecam.com): Tired of people who describe themselves over the phone (or in an ad) as having long, wavy hair only to discover (in person) that the hair's on his back? Then check out this site where what you see is what you get ... unless someone is getting his friend to pose for him (but I quibble).

2. Drag Queen (http://www.drag-queen.com): Whether you're looking for a nice wig, some lingerie or a pair of thigh-high boots, this site's all for you. Furthermore, there are instructional books and videos (for the novices) and even items like beard retardation cream. Don't say you weren't warned.

3. Classic Dykes Rule! (www.classicdykes.com/): Catering to the 'mature' lesbian (as opposed to childish ones, I guess), this site has a variety of dyke-related resources. Read about queer writers, peruse articles on lesbian health, find out about lesbian couples you can e-mail and even purchase anti-war T-shirts.

4. The Official Site of Robert Gant (www.safesearching.com/robertgant/): You may know that the now openly gay actor is on Queer as Folk, but did you know he was originally born Robert Gonzalez? Read all about the thespian and view a whole gaggle of pictures and videos of him at this site ... and, yes, the videos are tasteful.

5. The Official Site of Jennifer Lopez (www.jenniferlopez.com/): Yeah, yeah, I know ... like she needs more promotion. Well, in case you haven't seen enough pictures, take a look at the 10,000 photos (slight exaggeration) of her in the gallery. You can also check out the J-Cam page (which has video clips of the singer/actress/restaurant owner/clothing designer) or even ask her a question at the J.Lo Down page (like how much technological help she gets in the recording studio).

6. Laboriqua.com (www.latinstreetdancing.com/index.asp): Wanna learn how to really get down? This Chicago-based site has lots of info on dance classes ... and with courses like Super Sexy Bachata, Mad Merengue and Hot Chips 'n Salsa, you know there's a lot happening! There's even an online store where you can purchase CDs (Brenda K. Starr!!!) and books on salsa, bachata and the like.

7. The Autonomous Zone (http://www.azone.org): This site is all about the Zone, 'a collective space orientated towards social liberation and creative communities, where people can freely exchange ideas.' One look at the calendar confirms this; in February alone, the space hosted everything from anti-war speeches to a hip-hop open mic to a discussion about polyamory. You might also want to read about how you can get involved with the Zone, which is at 2129 North Milwaukee.

8. Bisexual.org (www.bisexual.org/): As you might guess, this site brings together those who like items on both sides of the menu. Items include personals (in which a simple search using the word 'Chicago' resulted in dozens of responses), a chat room, a page of upcoming events (like the BECAUSE Conference in Minneapolis in April), books/videos and even frequently asked questions.

9. Latin Dick Galleries (latin.dickgalleries.com/): If you don't know what this is all about just from the name, you don't belong here.

10. Youth Resource (www.youthresource.com/): This site is the ultimate resource for queer youth. Sites range from My Sistahs (a guide for young women of color) to links for deaf adolescents to pages concerning sexual assault to information on peer counseling. If you're young and have any issues that need to be addressed, you could do worse than consult this site.

I'm at adavis@starmail.com .
