The Pauls Foundation, which helps fund arts organizations, has established a scholarship in memory of its director, Ralph Arnold, at two Chicago institutions.
Arnold, a professor whose love of the arts transcended his professional life, passed away May 10, 2006.
The foundation has endowed $100,000 in Arnold's name at The Chicago Academy for the Arts, 1010 W. Chicago. A $50,000 endowment was arranged at Loyola University of Arts and Sciences, 25 E. Pearson, where an unnamed donor has matched the scholarship.
Although Arnold himself was a rare individual, the almost lifelong relationship with his partner William Frederick was rarer still, lasting for over 50 years.
