Rogers Park, Chicago, Ill. — The recently formed Rogers Park Arts Alliance ( RPAA ) in conjunction with Chicago Artist s Month is excited to announce Art Round Trip ( ART ). ART is a celebration of the arts community in Rogers Park with tours of exhibits, open studios, theatres and galleries in Rogers Park. ART will take place Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013 from 12 to 5 p.m. around the four Rogers Park Red Line 'L' stations — Loyola, Morse, Jarvis and Howard.
Featuring over 20 venues, 100 artists and 1000 pieces, ART will showcase the exciting vibrancy of our arts community. In addition, ART will be displaying the work of student artists from five of the local Rogers Park schools. Betsy Vandercook, 49th Ward Alderman's Chief of Staff is "proud that this event gives students the chance to see their art hung in local galleries and theaters. We hope this is the beginning of a new relationship between our local arts community and our neighborhood schools".
Sandi Price, Executive Director of the Rogers Park Business Alliance said "one of the best ways to foster community, creativity and economic development is through art. Rogers Park Business Alliance is honored to be one of the many organizations coordinating this exciting event."
While in the neighborhood, participants can take a self-guided tour of the renowned Mile of Murals project along Glenwood Ave. and walk to Greenleaf Art Center ( 1806 W. Greenleaf Ave. ) where 80 artists will be showing their work. Participants may pick up a brochure between the hours of 12 and 5 p.m. and start their ART walk/ride at any of the Rogers Park Red Line 'L' stations. ART guides will be at every 'L' station and information will be provided at all participating venues.
Besides the many exhibits, other activities will include live music, drum circles, dance, circus wheel demonstrations, live painting, food trucks, vendors and much more. Chainlinks ( 1110 W. Sheridan Rd. on Loyola University Chicago's North Lakeshore Campus ) is offering $5 off of bike rentals for the duration of the event. Rentals include a helmet, lock and light. Pedicabs will also be located at the Morse 'L' station, where they will take participants on to their next stop for a fee. RPAA is thrilled to host ART and showcase the burgeoning arts community in Rogers Park.
