At least 75 leading Republicans signed a brief to be submitted to the U.S. Supreme Court contending that same-sex marriage is a constitutional right, according to Gay Star News.
Those who signed include top advisers to former President George W. Bush, four former governors and two members of Congress (Richard Hanna of New York and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen of Florida). Others are mostly out-of-office Republicans or former top officials, including former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman, former Rep. Deborah Pryce (R-Ohio), former Massachusetts Govs. William Weld and Jane Swift, and former New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman.
The court will deliberate same-sex marriage in late March.
